Homework
At PRIDE, homework is considered to be crucial to every student's education. Homework allows students to reinforce, review, and expand on the work done in class. It is also essential for students to be prepared for their upcoming classes, tests, and activities.
Homework Accountability
PRIDE students are required to hand in quality homework in ALL 4 core subjects (math, LAL, social studies as soon as they arrive to school before 8:00 am and before they enter the Common Room.
If students do not hand in their homework at this time and/or if the homework is poor quality, they will be required to attend Homework Accountability from 4-5pm on days that Homework Accountability is held (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays).
Students who arrive after 8:00am are considered late to school and will not be able to hand in their homework to the teachers on homework collection duty. Due to their lateness, late students will be assigned Homework Accountability from 4-5pm even if they completed their homework the night before. Late students will hand their homework to their teachers during class time.
If students do not report to their assigned after school Homework Accountability, a parent will be required to report with their child to Homework Accountability from 4-5pm on the next Homework Accountability day.
Please ensure that your children complete quality homework every night, they have an organized way to keep and transport homework assignments to and from school, and they arrive on time for school.
Parents and Homework
Parents can help students with their homework by valuing the effort that they put into their studies and:
- Providing a quiet, supportive environment at home where your child can complete their homework without distraction.
- Checking that your child completes their homework in EVERY subject EVERY night and that their homework assignments meet our expectations for EXCELLENT work.
- Signing your child's Homework Agenda AFTER you check that the homework assignments have been completed fully and are of an excellent quality.
- Supporting the school policy if your child receives Homework Accountability and work with your child to avoid receiving these accountabilities.
